Road to Hana Pt.1 Pa'ia to Ho’okipa Beach

"Hippy town"

Good food! Ironically Brett is the only one who did not get lunch from here, he has something against cold cuts.

Beautiful surf at Ho'okipa.

Brett and Robyn on the rocks.

Couple of pals.

Hanging out.

Below is a description of what we did today. It was written by Jeff Griggs and I stole it from his blog at http://jeffgriggs.blogspot.com.

"Today the 6 of us rented a car and drove the famous Road to Hana in Maui.

Although Hana is only 52 miles from Kahului where the ship is docked, a typical trip from one side to the other takes about 3 hours. The road is winding and narrow and passes over 59 bridges, 46 of which are only one-lane bridges. There are approximately 620 curves along the road!

620!

It is the twistiest, craziest road I've ever been on. It's like one gigantic roller coaster. And, every bit of it is through a lush, tropical rainforest.

The first town you pass through is the last town you pass through before you get to Hana. Because of that, you have to make sure you have a full tank of gas and should probably buy lunch. The town is called Pa'ia.

We deemed it a hippy town. It's very cool and looks like it has a couple cool places to eat. I'm sure we'll stop there again. Today however, we bought a sack lunch in the hippy diner and continued down the road."
